how to lock an editable region

May 23, 2009 6:39 PM

Hello,

I'm trying to make my spry menu bar an editable region but it tells me to Insert widget into a locked region and to then create an editable region inside the widget. How would i go about doing this?  Owen

It sounds as though you are trying to nest editable regions. You can't. Nor can you lock an editable region, except by removing the editable region in the master template.

A region is either editable or locked. No halfway house.

Yes, is it possible to put a Spry Menu into an Editable region of a template, but it is not advisable. I did it in the Dreamweaver CS5 Classroom in a Book. But when you do that you have to disable all the things that make a Spry menu what it is.

i basically inserted the code of the Spry Menu into a library item. Then I inserted the CSS and JS references into the template manually. But when you do it this way, you can't access the Spry Interface in the Property inspector.

It's better to insert the menu in the locked region. I assume the reason you want to do this is that you want to add custom links on certain pages using the Spry menu as the base.
