I recently installed CS5.5 MC...When I attempt to capture from my Z5U (HDV), the capture window opens, goes thru all the motions of capturing, but doesnt seem to be creating a source file? Im new to video editing, and im not sure thats even the correct term to use...After i close the capture window there isnt a file available for me to work with. I can close down Premier Pro, open it back up, open the project file but there is no content. Im attempting to teach myself to use Premier Pro, so Im not sure if I'm missing a que or if there is a problem with the software. Any ideas?
Sounds like the typical case of OE. Are the camera settings OK, the i-Link settings reflect HDV, are your cables OK, is the FW on both sides OK, have you set the FW driver to Legacy, have you tried with HDVSplit, have you waited after capture for indexing and conforming to finish? A whole range of questions.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as you realize that every autodidact has an idiot as teacher. ![]()

My cables and settings are all appropriate...I had to reinstall the program after a computer issue, and that when i started having issues with PrP....prior to the re-install it captured beautifully...As well, the footage I captured prior to the re-install isnt able to be used...It gives me an error reading saying that no codec or preview file could be associated...
