Resolving errors connecting to Acrobat.com for Review or Forms workflows

May 7, 2012 2:32 PM

Users who had begun Review or Forms workflows on Acrobat.com on or before November 20, and who are now getting errors attempting to connect to Acrobat.com with those reviews or forms are candidates for using this Fixit utility.

N.B.: All of the participants in a Review will also need to download and follow these instructions, not just the review owner.

The symptoms will likely include an error message in Acrobat saying that Acrobat encountered an error communicating with Acrobat.com.

Reviews that were started more recently than Nov 20 should function correctly without a need to run this utility. If the review or form was started  after Nov 20, and you are experiencing a problem, then you are seeing an issue that this utility will not fix. Please let us know
if this is your case, so we can look into the issue.

Here are the instructions for using the utility:

  1. Download and unzip the appropriate Fixit utility for your system (Mac or Windows)
  2. Close all open Acrobat windows
  3. Run the Fixit utility. This may take several seconds if you have many reviews or forms. The utility has no user interface, so it is normal for it to show an empty window while running.
  4. After the utility has finished running, open the Shared Review  or Form document in Acrobat that was not working properly.
  5. Check for New Comments (Review) or Responses (Form).
  6. You might see an error that says that the review is corrupted when you open the Review. Ignore that error and Check for New anyway. Checking should repair that error.
  7. If after trying these steps your form or review is still broken, please let us.

We installed the patch on several machines as instructed and a few reviews started working, but it appears to have wiped out all of the history in the review tracker.  However, we still have a lot of ongoing reviews that are saying "Could not get new comments. One or more files are missing on the server" when we check for new comments and it tries to get us to work offline.

Thanks Bob.  I did that as well since I have not been able to figure out how to go about getting the fastest and best help with this critical issue.  Other companies we work with have provided me with a single contact on their end that I work with on issues like this.  Since I am the person in our company that administers our usage of adobe for shared reviews, let me know if there is such a person within Adobe that I should contact moving forward.  I have since been in touch with Tobias Hoellrich with Adobe to work on these continuing issues.  He said that there a number of items that were not translated successfully in the data migration and that he needs to speak with others on your end to find the problem.  I have not heard back from him yet, and we are still having problems.  Needless to say, our users are screaming and after all of the hard work to sell our consultants that this was the way to go, many are now jumping ship and will likely force us to start using their vendor's systems.  We are in salvage mode right now as we never thought we would have a problem on this order of magnitude with Adobe.

Sorry for replying directly back to the forum post, but I don’t know how to contact you directly...

I too have tried the patch, and my forms still all say "network resource not found"  I have been having problems since 11/24, and have called several 800 numbers looking for assistance.  In my numberous phone conversations with numerous people, not one of them mentioned this fix.  in the past 3 days, i have experienced the worst customer service of my life.  I was hung up on 7 times, and on hold for hours!  Still, my situation is not fixed.  This is causing serious problems, and if i cannot get it fixed by today, i will have to find another program.

I have a slightly different problem.  As a new user, I created a few files that I used for testing.  I subsequently deleted them.  Now I have two problems.

    1) Attached is a screen image (Tracker) showing an error message from Tracker indicating that "Network resource not found."  How do I delete the item from Tracker?

    2) When I attempt to distribute a new file, I am now presented with error messages after the "Finalizing Form Preperation" message appears. These can be seen in attachments Tracker 2 and Tracker 3.

This may be a problem that one of my users is having, but I don't see how this type of solution might be of help. Here's her comment so far:

    Oh Dave,
    This is getting exhausting.
I go to acrobat...it tells me I need adobe...I down load adobe.... I try to "sign in" ....it tells me I need adobe. etc. etc.
I cannot get to the form.
I am done.  This more than anything will make me resign as race director.
I don't mind the rest of it, but this stuff, I hate.
I have just spent more time trying to figure this out than I have.
I will send the changes to you and Brian.
Who ever can make the changes should do so and call me with questions.
Sorry I can't make headway out of what seems to be an easy way to change documents.
    Augghhh!!!
    Michele

While I like the idea of adding Tables and Presentations, the whole move from Buzzword to Acrobat has been a trial.

Thanks Bob, I followed the instruction and so far the tracker (for the form I distributed) is working well again.

I have just tried to use this feature and all I get is the error message that it cannot connect to the server. I have put Acrobat into my firewall and tried to turned it off. I have run the utility for Windows but nothing has been fixed.

    What is the problem?

    Win 7 x64 Acrobat 11.0.2
