Ask the specialists on the AI forum. I think, though, Freehand support has been removed in CS6. You need XCS4 or CS5 then. Also as far as I know it only supported newer FH formats...

    Illustrator CS5 can open FH7 (to FH11)

Illustrator CS6 cannot open any FreeHand files

I seond that it is wel documented  that CS 6 does not open or support FH files as Freehand is essentially dead.

So you might save them as esp files or Use an earlier version of ai and resave them as AI files to make life easier for yourself in the future when there will be no computers that FH will be able to run on. that is when all computers are 64 bit only.

Won't be that far in the future I give it five years.

@Wade___"I seond that it is wel documented"

???? As far as I'm aware it was not 'documented' at all! Unless post facto due to it being raised here in these fora, and I don't consider that 'documented'.

Well I read about it about four or five times even before it was released.

And I was definitely not looking for that information since I do not have any FreeHand files.

Hi Wade, can you please point me to one of the 4 or 5 places where you may have read this pre-release infomation?

    TIA

    Les

    No I can't! You'll have to do a search like I did!

Well Wade, I think you'll find that's because there are no such links. By the way, why did you 'do a search' (last post) when you were 'definitely not looking for that information' (3rd last post)?

I was looking for the new features in Illustrator CS 6 after the April 23 announcement.

I tried the FH to Ai 7/EPS route. Less than pleasant results.

Try using Ai CS5 for saving FH files. Results are much better.
