NTSC Output

May 19, 2012 4:56 PM

I'm having trouble getting 720 x 480 output from SpeedGrade.  It seems it will always convert to 720 x 486.

Does anyone know how to get rid of those extra 6 pixels?

    Hi Jim,

I assume you're using the Framing Option in the Output section - there's indeed an issue with the NTSC preset that presents 486 instead of 480.

I'll look into easy options as to how to change this (it's potentialy a simple tweak in a preset file you can apply yourself). Stay tuned!

    Hi Jim,

please open the preset file "RenderSizes.fcps" on your machine with a text editor such as text edit. Under OS X you'll find it here:

This is what you'll see inside the file:

You can make changes as needed - in this case, change 486 to 480.

If you want to add other formats, simply copy an existing line and make changes according to your needs.

Safe the file, reopen SpeedGrade, the changes should be reflected.

I'll also see what we can do about including this change with a patch.

    Cheers,

    Pat
