Adobe digital edition problem

I have downloaded and installe ADOBE digital edition.  I try to open a book from the library with a .ACSM and the adobe program starts but all I get is a black screen with nothing else.  Any ideas?

    When you downloaded Digital Editions, did you register with Adobe and

    obtain an Adobe ID first?

    I am registered with adobe but I don't remember if I signed in before I

    downloaded the executable.  If you think that makes a difference I will get rid

    of the current file and start over, signing in first.  I will let this forum

    know.   thanks
