Click on the Adjustments Panel and add the Curves Layer there.  Look at the "Properties" Panel to see the Curve. At the upper right corner is a tiny, nearly invisible triangle; click on that to bring up the Curves Display Options, where you will see the two icons for the two types of grids.

In a few minutes I'll make some screen shots for you, but you should be able to figure it out from this brief description.

Station Two - Just out of curiosity, where did you come across my modified version of the PhotoDisc Test Image? It's weird how you can recognize even from just a few partial pixels both the great Guy Clark and U. Utah Phillips.

In all honesty, I don't recall for certain, but I think you may have posted it publicly, or a link to it, a few years ago.

From the file format and pixel dimensions, it could be a screen shot. This is all the info I have on it:

    trekie51,

The curves grid should be on by default. I don't believe there is a way to turn it off, just a way to set the number of grids.

Maybe your having a hard time seeing it because of the interface color?

If you add a curves adjustment layer and then go to Photoshop (Edit)>Preferences>Interface and change the Appearance Color Scheme

    does that make any difference?

If that doesn't make any difference we need to know more about your system like what operating system, do you have any third party plugins,

did you set the additional plugins preference to point somewhere?

Did you try resetting the photoshop preferences?
