Can't download Flash

I have Firefox 12, and it's prompting me to download the latest version of Flash (I have a Mac, OS 10.7.4). Each time I try, I get the following error message:

 

/Users/(---)/Downloads/install_flash_player_osx.dmg could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.

 

Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.

 

I've gone through the whole troubleshooting list, tried uninstalling the version I had, etc. Now Firefox says it can't even find the missing plugin I need. What can I do?

    Hi,

     

    Could you please try the following:

     

    In Firefox, click Tools > Downloads.

    Ideally, you should be able to see the installer you downloaded. (install_flash_player_osx.dmg)

    Double-click the installer. Double-click Install Adobe Flash Player icon that appears and follow the prompts.
