Adobe Community: Cannot install reader

Please download the Reader full verison from

ftp:\\ftp.adobe.com\pub\adobe\reader\win\10.x\10.1.3 , if the path is not valid use this ftp://ftp.adobe.com and then navigate as mentioned sequence.

Do let me know, if you face any issues.

You may want to try the following:

Run this fix from Microsoft and uninstall all traces of any versions of Reader:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

If you want to reinstall Reader, download it from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Hello - ran the FixIt Program and then tried to re-install... still get error 1303.

Still can't install...

Are you sure you removed all traces of previous versions of Reader? From where are you trying to install it?

No, I am not positive... how would I know that for sure and how would I check? Trying to install it from my downloads folder

I imagine that you could run the MS fix again and see if it shows anything. And where does the downloaded installer you are trying to use come from?

When MS Fixit runs and it asks to select a program to fix, Adobe Reader is not one of them... is there somewhere else I should look?

The download is coming directly from the Adobe site.

Are you running the installer as an Administrator user?

If not, right-click on the downloaded installer, then select Run as Administrator.

Yep, tried that... still same error message...

It gets to about 70% and then gives me that message.

Is there more info in the message you are getting, e.g. pointing to some folder with insufficient permissions?

Yes. When I go to that file, it says unable to display current owner that this time.

Here is the full error: Installer has insufficient privileges to access directory: C\programfiles(x86)\adobe\reader 10.0\reader. The installation cannot coninue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator.

Do I need to delete directory and start again?

That's what I would try; delete the Reader folder, as well as the higher Reader 10.0 folder and try again.

Hi there - It will not let me delete the adobe file. The dialog box tells me that I need permission to perform that action. How do I get permission?

That makes sense; insufficient permissions - no installation.

Try Unlocker to delete these folders.
