Help w 64 bit flash player install

I'm trying to install flash player 11 on a 64 bit hp tower. I just upgraded from vista home premium to w7 home premium.

The download works. I click Run (do you want to run or save) then Run (do you want to run this software) then Yes (do you want to allow this program to make changes to this computer).

Nothing seems to happen -- no install bar appears or anything else to indicate there is activity, but if I try going through the full sequence again it says only one copy can run at a time.

Do you have any idea how to overcome this problem?

Do I just have to wait longer for it to install?

I suggest that you first restart your system to terminate any installers that may be running in the background.

Next download the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#install_in_a_... and save them to disk.  You only need to download the 64-bit installers on Windows 7 x64.

Now close all browser windows and run the downloaded installers.

Thank you for the help! I was able to install flash player but there is still a problem.

Before installing a message came up saying i needed flash player and then a videl player would come up and a message that said "you need flash player".

Now that flash player is installed, the player comes up and the little dots begin circling clockwise in the center of the screen like they used to before the problem started.

Now instead of the dots stopping and the video starting, the dots keep circling. I've tried multiple videos and let them run for hours but the video never plays.

Any suggestions?

Pat - Sorry for the delayed response I've been covered up!

Here is one I went to earlier today that is still circling. Every video I

try to play does the same thing.

Thank you!

Hi Terry,

Could you try both of these YouTube video tests to see how they perform?

Test 1

Test 2

Thanks,

Chris

Chris - On both tests the dots continue to spin and no video comes up.

Thank you!

Chris:

I'm having similar issues on most youtube sites...  I would have said all except that your "Test 1" link actually works.

"Test 2" does not.  What's the difference?

Test 1 used YouTube's Flash video player, while Test 2 used YouTube's HTML5 player.

Terry, because both players failed I'm suspicious of your network connection to YouTube.  We can at least rule out a Flash specific problem here.  You might want to post your findings over on YouTube's forums to see if anyone there has advice for you.

asfhj..., in your case you are definitely having an issue with Flash content.  We'll need more background on what OS, browser, Flash Version and descriptions on what happens with other Flash content that you try to view.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Chris!

I wondered if it could be my modem (verizon fios) because I have two other

computers and none of them will play you tube videos. I'm not sure if that's

what you mean by "network connection to you tube".

The problem started when the latest version of flash player popped up with

the "do you want to install" question. I did it and the first thing that

happened was the message that the new version of flash player wasn't

supported on a 64 bit vista system. I upgraded the system to windows 7 and

still no flash.

I'll pursue this with you tube but if this additional information prompts

any additional ideas please give me a heads up.

Thanks!
