Why is "set first vertex" grayed out?

May 27, 2012 7:55 AM

I'm new to After Effects and am rather boggled by its complexity. I have searched this question and didn't find it in the forum.

I created a path in Illustrator and pasted it into the position property of a shape object. The path works just as I wanted it to as a motion path. However, the default first vertex was not where I wanted it, so I selected the one I wanted to set as the first vertex, but the switch to do so was grayed out. I did have only one vertex selected.

Does anyone have a solution or an explanation?

I'm using a Macbook Pro with a dual core chip and 8GB of RAM, AE CS5, OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks

Once a pathe has been converted to motion, you re-arrange the keyframe order to chenge thae staring point of the motion.

This should work just the same regardless of the source of the path. You may just be selecting a wrong property level, so the data is not properly formatted and that may mess things up...
