Missing 3d tools in Photoshop CS6 extended

Hi everyone, I thought that I would seek help here before I endure the agony of Adobe technical help. I just installed the upgrade to CS6 Design and Web Premium yesterday. Received my email for the free upgrade yesterday morning and all went fine for the download and install as far as I can tell.

Both the flash screen as well as the about Photoshop screen show CS6 extended, yet I have no 3D tools at all, either in the menu or toolbar. This is the case both with my laptop and desktop.

I have the latest drivers for my video cards and "use graphic processor" is checked in preferences.  Am I just being stupid and missing something (entirely possible), or does anyone had a similar problem or any suggestions.

desktop system specs:

Windows XPpro 32bit service pack 3

graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

4 gigs RAM

425 gigs free on scratch disk

CS6 with 3 D does not work with XP OS.

Will have to migrate to Win 7 and 64 bit with 8 gigs of ram for all the benefits.

Hi,

PS CS6 comes in two flavors, Extended and Standard

PS CS 6 extended has 3D features but on the other hand Standard version doesnt have these features.

So, there may be  a possibility that you may have purchased Standard version.

I installed Photoshop C6 Extended on a Windows 7, 64-bit laptop and activated it and I don't get any 3-D. I removed the program and reinstalled it but still no 3D. It's a late model, media HP laptop with plenty of power, a good video card and plenty of memory.

Anyone have any ideas?

It might be helpful if you'd list the specs to define what you believe is "plenty".  Photoshop requires at least 512 MB of VRAM.   It's also important to have up-to-date display drivers that provide modern, bug-free OpenGL support.

Like the previous poster, please look in your Help - System Info display for specifics.

The laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7 with 4.00 GB of RAM. AMD Turion II Ultra Dual Core Mobile M600 processor, 2.4 GHz. Windows 7 Home Premium, SP-1. The  display drivers are up to date. The video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon, HD4650 with 3-D business and gaming graphics. No conflicts in Device Manager, etc.

The thing is, I had the 3D capability in Photoshop before. Now I don't. The computer runs fine, only no 3-D in Photoshop C6 Extended, Here's the other thing: I also run Photoshop CS 5.1, 64 bit, version 12.1, and it does have 3-D which I use.

You need to update that 4 year old video card driver.

Does the 3D menu show at all?  It would be missing if you had a standard license instead of extended.

If it is there, but grayed out, then something is preventing the 3D features from working (like bugs in the video driver).

Thank you, Chris. The 3D menu does not show up at all. It's not the video card because the 3D menu does indeed show up in my Photoshop Extended version 5.

I purchased version C6 Extended on the Internet and it looks like they sent me version C6 NOT Extended. I will investigate.

The serial number determines whether you will see the 3D menu or not.  It's the exact same software.

If you were given a Standard edition serial number when you purchased Extended, you'll need to call Adobe customer service.

Just to confirm Curt's correct answer (thanks again) and to help anyone else with the same issue,I installed a SSD drive and updated to Windows 7. Just like magic, the 3d tools appeared.
