Video files embedded in AE project play slow

When I embed video files in an AE project the video files play in slow motion. I've done a search of the forum and found the answer of time-remapping, but that is for changing from normal play back to fast or slow motion playback. I just want the standard 29.97 fps playback.

Do you mean in preview or in rendered output files? Are you using RAM Preview to view previews?

As Andrew said, you need to clarify what exactly you are doing and provide much more info. We do not even know what version of AE you are using at this point, much less on what system, what footage is used and all those annoying details.
