How can I import an existing website?

May 30, 2012 1:56 PM

This is something that I did before Adobe took over Business Catalyst.  I would go into the Partner Portal, select Create Site, which would bring up the Create Trial Site dialog.

Under Site Options > Choose the site creation method:

there would be four options.  I would choose the third, Import your current website.  This is now disabled, with a message (This option is currently not available).

Has this feature been removed from Business Catalyst, or is there something wrong with the account?

    Hi Bev,

From your post I'm getting an idea that you can't access a newly created site through CoreFTP...

So, you'd need to setup a new site in your FTP and enter the following details:

    host: sitename.businesscatalyst.com

    username: simename.businesscatalyst.com/user@doamin.com

password: this is your admin password

Passive: make sure this is ticked

Any screenshots or error messages will be helpful if you still can't get this working.

Is there any tutorial or reference document that you could lead to? I m having the exact issue as Bev. I have code the site in dreamweaver and successfully logged in to FTP and uplod the entire site but BC started showing me default Coming Soon page. Then I tried with the index.html and all i could see is the menu. All other files are linked with index.html.

I though it would be fairly simple but it seems quite confusing. I m not sure how the disabled site option would work but for now FTP option isn't working for me.

I will appreciate if you can help. You can view the weird site here

    Thanks.

Is there a reason why using the import Business Catalyst site in Dreamweaver won't work for you?

    Hi Brad,

I tried that but there is an error while connecting BC from Dreamweaver. IMSLibrary_Error_Request_Failed

On top of the while creating the stie, this option is not currently available either. It's kind of disappointing.

Not soon then! The only way to work if you have existing clients trying to convert them over to BC is to import full sites.

None of the FTP methods have worked for us.

    Sean.
