Where can I get source for Strobe Media Playback for http dynamic bitrate streaming. Current 2.0 does not seem to do so.

    Hi,

     

    I bet you can find it in the OSMF zipped sources, downloadable from http://sourceforge.net/projects/osmf.adobe/files/OSMF%202.0%20Release% 20%28final%20source%2C%20ASDocs%2C%20pdf%20guides%20and%20release%20no tes%29/

     

    SMP is in the player directory, but you cn find simpler players in the samples directory.

    Another query regarding the Strobe Media Player -

     

    We managed to run the Samples code for Dynamic Streaming -

    1. We saw that the video stored on a web server was getting played after 2 minutes. Of course this video was about 160MB in size. Smaller video of 1-2 MB was faster. BUt a video of size 160 MB has to start playing since using dynamic streaming the player may not wait until the video is copied.Your views on this please.

     

    2. Also we need o be able to control the playback w.r.t to the chunks being downloaded. We know the offsets in the mp4 to read to read ony chunka and not the full video. How can we play only a chunk using Strobe Media Player. Where should we make the changes.

    Hi,

     

    please use the SMP Strobemediaplayback.html page - it has a demo for dynamic streaming; using an mp4 directly will not be dynamic streaming.

     

    Please check also the FMS documentation on http dynamic streaming.

    Hello Silviu,

     

    You mentioned using an mp4 directly may not be dynamic streaming. Could you please shed more light on why ?

     

    FMS - Do you mean Flash Media Server ? Correct me if I'm wrong but According to my understanding Dynamic Streaming may not require FMS support(link below). Do you mean that FMS or rather server side support is required for Synamic Streaming.
