Updating a Single Edition.

Hi, my client is a top UK retail chain and they are about to launch a magazine that I've produced for them.

I can't convince them to launch with an annual subscription, therefore allowing subscriptions and access to Newsstand on iOS.

What they want to do is launch their quarterly magazine as a Single Edition App outside of Newsstand and each quarter just pay for a new single licence and update the app to a new issue. I know this will wipe out the previous issue. They are fine with that.

Is this possible? I can't see why it wouldn't. I presume the App would just need to be updated in the App Store by the user.

If someone could confirm this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

This won't work with Single Editions, as you are talking about multiple editions.  You can make small changes on your Single Edition, but once you are ready to publish a new edition, you do just that and the previous edition will remain on users devise.

Your scenario will work. When you will publish app under same application ID, you will just replace old app with new one.

    Ahoj, Martin

And what if the scenario is like this:

    1. single app named "MyName 1" and app ID xxx

    2. after some time – new single app named "MyName 2" with the same app ID xxx.

Would it be accepted by Appstore system and Apple bureaucrats?

If i understand: --MyName 2 app--- require a new licence payment.

(the update of single edition is not possible - so the old application remain in the store).

    Please this workflow is correct?
