I have a photo in the background layer to which I added lines and text in several layers. I want to change the color of the lines and text without having to change each layer individually. Is there a way to do this in Macintosh PE 3.0?
If the text is text layers you can link the text layers and with one of linked text layers selected in the layers palette
and the type tool selected, press the shft key and choose your color from the tool options bar.
Are the lines shape layers or pixel layers?
Your suggestion worked for text. Thanks.
The same procedure didn't work for the lines. I think the lines are shape layers since they show up as Shapes in the Layer pallette. I am working with 2 shape layers in my test document. When I click on the check box to link a shape layer, it changes to a "Brush". The shape layer not selected can be set to linked or not linked but not the one selected. I'm not sure what is going on.
I don't believe that will work for shape layers.
You probably have change the color on each shape layer.
One possible worksround is to merge the shape layers or merge the shape layers to new layer and then use a color fill layer clipped to the merged shape layers.

Can you tell me the procedure for making changes (color, line width, etc.) to the lines? I am able to select the lines, but that's as far as I have been able to go. I haven't had any success and haven't been able to find anthing in the PE Help.
If the lines are shape layers then they should have grey thunbnail which you can double click on to change the color.
To transform the lines you can select the move tool and move the mouse until you see the double sided arrow and choose any of the handles to transform the shape.
Then you can either double click inside the transform box or click on the checkmark to commit the transform.
Thanks for posting the detailed response and for pointing me in the right direction. I now know how to make the edits. The text edits work well on all the text boxes when linked together. The line edits are cumbersome and time-consuming since you can only drag a handle to change it's width. The arrowheads on the lines become distorted, but at least the final annotated photos are legible when printed. I wonder if the full version of Photoshop would allow line edits to all lines when line layers are linked and also allow changing line widths by simply change line widths in the line width selection tool.
You should be able to transform all the shapes by linking them, but you'll still get the distorted arrow heads unless you press the shift
key, but the whole shape becomes bigger then.
There are also some arrows under the custom shapes.
Photoshop allows for more complex editing of the shapes, but it also costs $700 or more.
Then there's the question of which mac operating system your using.
You could use the line tool with the arrowheads turned off to add to the length of the line without distorting the arrowheads.
You might also try simplifying the shape, making a selection of just the line part and then transform just the line.
(right click or Ctrl click on the shape layer and choose simplify layer)
You'll have to experiment and see if that prints out well.
