What's the Best Way to Animate Flash Projects into 3D?

Jun 1, 2012 2:28 PM

Hello Folks,

I have been looking at many different 3D programs to use for animating projects created with Flash AS3.0 (CS5.5) and am, to say the least, a bit overwhelmed.

I don't know the best way to go about creating what I need to move on to the next step,

I have checked out a few tutorials and seen that actual 3D is not accomplished through Flash. I mean that when turning a character to side view, there is no "thickness".

Do I need to create separate front, side, rear, and diagonal views of the character, give them each separate "skeletal" structures, and then export the files into another program?

I have been reading about Alernativa3D and it appears to be a good program.

Has anyone used this program (or any others) and had success in accomplishing their goals?

What is the best method to create in Flash and export to 3D programs?

Any comments, opinions, links, etc will be very helpful and greatly appreciated!

I know I can't be the only one who is overwhelmed and somewhat clueless. =)

Thanks again,

  Mike

    the workflow is

    1. create your 3d models outside of flash

    2.setup a 3d framework like flare3d, alternativa3d or away3d to work with your project.

    3. import your models (dynamically) into flash

    4. code using your chosen framework.
