To be frank with you, caution is the main approach that should be taken wherever you go past the flat design and into the fat design stage.
As I see it, besides the fact that this workaround works, a nested button inside MSO is a feature, so the only workaround here is adding the [Click] appearance to that button, to keep it floating above the playing video.
