Change "mute" button image after clicked

I have a simple button that looks like any other mute button. When the button is clicked I want to put a red line through it. I thought I could use a timeline for this and just change to the next frame but it doesn't look like that's an option for buttons.

How can I do this?

Use a MovieClip instead of a Button

Another option would be to have a movieclip of the red line that sits over the button that you make invisible/visible.
