Deleting Unwanted Sections of a Vector

Jun 2, 2012 11:36 AM

Hey guys,

How do I get rid of the small orange line in the right hand side of this image?

I want to create a white cross through the whole image..

Depends on what this line actually is.

From your screenshot this is not clear. Show the outlines and the layer panel. Show the complete image.

Next time show the object selected, so we can see what objects you have. Now I don't know if the white is object or emty space.

In any way, with the direct selection tool (white pointer) select the right edge of the small orange line and drag it to the left to overlap the left edge. You can hold Shift after start the dragging to constrain horizontally or use the left arrow on your keyboard.

If this doesn't hide the orange line but just move it to the left, in the Pathfinder click the Unite button, deselect all (Shift + Ctrl + A), click with the white pointer on the line and press Delete key on your keyboard.

Doesn't the Eraser Tool remove areas regardless of if it's used on a path or a shape?

Yes, it does. Holding Alt while dragging with Eraser will draw a rectangle that will take away from all objects below or only from the selected if any - the only problem, it doesn't snap.

You're welcome, Josh.  "Simplicity" is one of my middle names.  ("Lazy" is the other.)
