Http dynamic streaming

Was watching JOhn Crosby's video(above link) on Http dynamic streaming.

Do I need a FMS if I'm trying to set up On Demand only and not live. Can I not do it on

any common web server. Since f4fpackager already creates segments/ fragments, what additional support does FMS provide?

Also it will help if any one of you can share contact details of JOhn Crosby (email address) .
