I am not seeing this. Attached image is a side-by-side comparison of a png in Preview and the pdf preview in Chrome.

Which OS and browser are you using? Would you post a screenshot, or email me one at kenrice@adobe.com?

Ken,

I'm also seeing this and I think it has something to do with PDF color space.

All my CMYK PDF document previews are washed out, but RGB ones are fine.

Thanks Ken for looking into it. All my pdfs look fine in acrobat and when downloaded.

Attached is what is see in pdf compared to cloud and also how the jpgs download.

These are the highest resolution Press Quality PDFs that we use for print and they are automatically converted to CMYK when you export them.

These view and print perfect, its just the CC preview that looks faded.

CMYK pds are the standard format for these documents, so we would need to see these preview ok in Creative Cloud.

Does anyone have a solution on a work around to display my CMYK Pdfs to view ok in Creative Cloud?

Currently they look very faded and I am surprised that not much other people have mentioned this.

CMYK Pdfs are standard for print design work and I design and share alot of these CMYK Pdfs with my clients.
They appear fine in Acrobat and when printed, but look very faint in the cloud.

Ideally I would like to save these CMYK pdfs in the cloud, share them with my clients and have them view them ok, then use the same link to send finished file to printer when ready. My clients currently mention that these pdfs look "very faint" in the display screen in ccloud.

The last thing I want to be doing is converting my pdfs into RGB just to view ok in the cloud, then convert into CMYK for print.

It takes away the simplicity seamless experience of using the cloud to share.

If I rememeber correctly, Bridge has the same issue when it comes to displaying Press Quality Pdf's. I think it has something to do with them being CMYK instead if RGB

I'm writing here from September 2, 2012 and the faded PDF from the CMYK colorspace is still an issue.

I can convert to RGB and my color version looks good but, in the case of this particular file, the black and white version of the color ad I am proofing to my client is still faded.

Like Billy.Gunn has pointed out, Creative Cloud, as it stands, is useless as a client proofing and commenting platform which is what I would primarily use it for.

So here's a suggestion: Add a Creative Cloud preview option when generating PDFs from ALL Adobe print applications. It would simply present the PDF as it appears on screen regardless of colorspace.

It would be great to hear from Adobe on this.

8tracker, I found a workaround.

Its not ideal, but if you optimise your pdf ie not the highest quality press output... it seems to preview ok in cloud when CMYK.

Play aroud with your export settings and find one that works. It seems to be very large files in my case that have issues.

Thanks for the tip Creative-Impact…

But nothing changes between all the different types of PDFs for me. My file is still washed out.

I have submitted my suggestions to Adobe's feature request, but nothing.

It appears Adobe is working on it, maybe a fix will come soon. But I'm still paying $50 a month for something that doesn't work the way it should. I went this route instead of purchasing the software outright for the Creative Cloud service.

@www.creative-impact.co.uk - This issue has now been fixed. The image preview of the PDF should no longer looked washed out. You will need to re-upload the file to see the correct preview.
