Any idea how this can be done in illustrator? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OaLZuFZxdk
That is some sweet way to make a type. I dont know if any font editors can do this already.
Can illustrator CS6 do something like this?
when will illustrator have spiro splines? any idea? One would think by CS6 atleast such a feature would be covered. Real shame it isn't. I used to use inkscape a lot and then switched to AI for the fact AI was more feature rich, now this one feature in inkscape - the spiro spline makes it slightly stronger than AI.
Inkscape has them (but they deform the path too much imo). You can have a library for FontForge http://libspiro.sourceforge.net/
Spiro curves were also built into the Font Editor Ikarus (don't know if it still exists)
If you want to know more about it you should also search the terms clothoid and cornu spiral
and you could take a look at this: http://issuu.com/fontfont/docs/ff_din_round
