Currently have a GH2 hacked but preordered a Blackmagic cinema
Right now am borrowing a laptop but getting one of the new macbook pros 15"
For desktop here is my future build with parts from my old pc
i7 3930k---on the way
Corsair 750AX--have
Corsair 650D--have
3x 1 TB Caviar Black
2x2 TB Hitachi something
1x 1TB caviar green
Geforce 560ti
2x 22" LG ips panels calibrated using spyder4 pro
things I need are memory and a motherboard and I'm thinking of replacing my HDD with 2tb Caviar blacks one the prices go down a bit
the motherboards I have in mind are the intel x79 BTO since its cheap and intel has good customer service
or gigabyte u4dp
the memory I was looking at is
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007A1TK8A/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s= pc
for $286 total since I get 10% amazon discount
or
I'm thinking of also getting a noctua dh14 or corsair h100 for OC to 4.0GHz
and will have a crucial m4 256 for my SSD
Intel mobo's are not the best choice IMO. Pretty slow, exaggerated pricing and customer service on a mobo is mostly irrelevant. I suggest either Asus of Gigabyte.
The G.Skill RipjawZ series has my preference currently. I'm about in the same boat you are in, see: Adobe Forums: Planning / building a new system. Part 1
I also plan to order this kit : G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q2-64GBZL .
Is there someone who installed without problems ?
Through to now I decided to buy the same Ripjaws kit what you linked here (64Gb).But just now I checked some AE and PP projects what I have, I opened together and linked them with Dynamic link.
And I checked how much RAM used my PC with windows task manager.Never goes over 15GB.Actually I have 32GB. I have to note this projects has min 10 layers with color corrections, blur effects, with 1080p m2ts footages. + graphic titles.
So you guys have you ever checked your RAM consumption? Do we really need 64GB? (As Eric-ADK- asked from me a few days ago, maybe he's right).
This applies to ram above 1333 on the 3930K. So far the 3960X has been fine with 1600 ram at 1.5V and far more compatible providing you had good cooling to keep the ram and VRU cool. If you look in the motherboard manuals, most say they highly recommend 1.35V ram if you are going to fully populate.
