The instructions say <<< In the Background panel, select the Background Color option and click the color swatch to choose the color. >>> But I can't seem to find any way of changing the background colour from the default, white. Help! (I want black.)

    Make sure you have the page selected (highlighted as yellow) in the main window. Then use the background tab to uncheck graphic and apply globally. Check the background color box and then click on the white box to the right of it to bring up the picker to change to black.

    Thank you; but having changed to black, I now need to change the captions and text to white! Is this possible, I wonder?

     

    And whilst on the subject of captions, how do I change their font to say Garamond?

    Yes, this is all possible, all to be found in the right-hand panels in Book module.

    Just make sure you expand every panel and every triangle inside a panel to unhide it.

     

    All fonts known to your operating system can be used in book module.

    Thank you once more. However, I have now decided it would be better if the photos were all on the right-hand pages, and their captions on the left-hand pages. How do I do this (without cutting and pasting all the captions one by one)?

    You might try using some of the two page spreads - and make sure "Align with photo" is not ticked.

    Thanks for that suggestion.

     

    On the subject of fonts and type sizes, I note that one can set a Text Style Preset; but how does one then apply it to the text? And is there a way of applying it to ALL of a book's text?

    Select the text box - or a piece of text inside the box - and then choose the preset in Type.

     

    In other words, inside a text box you can apply different presets to different lines. But it gets messy.

     

    Also, note that Ctrl Alt A / Mac Cmd Option A selects all the visible text boxes. By "visible" I mean if you're in Book's Grid view it selects every text box on every page, but if you're in two-up view it selects all the text boxes on those facing pages. It's a less fiddly way to select the text boxes.

    That's great! And I now see that Ctrl Alt A can be used to change selected backgrounds too.

    I think you mean PC: Ctrl A  or Mac: Cmd A
