I just tried to install the new Dreamweaver Extension that seems to open Proto-files. The Extension Manager happily informs me that the installation succeeded, I quit/restart Dreamweaver as always, but the .pro files (on my Mac) are still grayed out upon Open, and I can't seem to find any other way. Am I missing something ?
I'm using a Dutch version of Dreamweaver as part of a Creative Cloud membership.
Due to persisting problems with registering and updating, I don't have the latest updates yet. Might that be the cause ? I'm stuck on version 12.0.0.5808 for now...
I found the Proto Extension FAQ helpful. It's hidden under the Product Details tab:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/protoextension/
Specifically...
...Within the File > Open dialog, *.pro files are not listed under the default option "All Documents." As a result, you will need to filter by either "Adobe Proto files (*.pro)" or "All files" before being able to choose a *.pro file for opening. For quicker startup, you can use the OS file association mechanism to associate *.pro files with Dreamweaver and then double-click on *.pro file to open it in Dreamweaver.
Well, the Application Manager is now totally messed up. It eventually ran through some updates (including Dreamweaver and Extension Manager), but they don't seem to have had any effect on the version of Dreamweaver (still 12.0.0.5808). Some apps are still in need of an update, AAM says. Creative Cloud begs to differ...
However, I still can't open Proto files, even after I removed and reinstalled the extension.
Ah ! Found it :-) Thanks Dan ! Please neglegt my earlier message.
Now, who of the Adobe Lab Rats is responsible for not understanding
what the option "All Documents" means, and why the list of formats
below this option is normally considered as "filtering" or "narrowing",
and not exclusively introducing a completely different format ?
