hotspots won't load

I have been working in Dreamweaver, using hotspots and for some reason the image map will not display... meaning I can't see or edit my hotspots.

    How big is your image?

    Is it saved for web as RGB optimized jpg, png or gif?

    Did you insert the image directly into your HTML document?

     

    NOTE:  Background images cannot be used as image maps.
