Acrobat X and HP Officejet Pro 8600

I just installed Acrobat X.  I scan a lot within Adobe.  When I went to scan, my HP Officejet Pro was NOT availabe under the Acrobat Scan screen. An older version of a Canon printer/scanner is still there--which I can't find a way to remove--but when I choose "please select a device," I don't get any choices.  This is frustrating...an HP problem?--that shouldn't be likely.  An Adobe problem?  Isn't there somewhere under preferences to link to devices?  BTW, I can PRINT to the HP just fine.
