Why can't I install Adobe Reader ?
I'm sorry.....I have no idea.....I'm not computer savvy so I just got fed up. Turns out I already have Adobe Flash Player 10 and 11. The Nuance PDF site told me I had to have Adobe. All I wanted to do was be able to convert a PDF file to a Word document and you would think it was protected by the Pentagon. I still can't do it and I'm really upset about that. I shouldn't have to send it someplace else to be done, especially when it comes back all wrong. I'm just asking people not to send me PDF files anymore. Thanks for contacting me, but there's nothing you can do.
Well, you could have got some useful help here if you had been able to explain clearly what your problem is. In any case, I'll try to give you an idea of what PDFs and Reader are, which could be useful for you to know, should you ever come back and read this.
PDF (Portable Document Format) files are cross-platform self-contained documents. They retain all the formating characteristics of the original, including images and fonts, regardless of the kind of computer and printer one uses to see or print them. PDF files are also considerably smaller than the original files from which they are made.
The unique and highly compact page description format used to create PDF files makes them difficult to modify. They are also difficult to change back to other non-compressed conventional formats.
And the free Adobe Reader is a program designed exclusively for reading (opening) PDF files, although it can do some (very few) other things with them.
Knowing these basic things should help you to understand what you can expect and what you cannot expect of PDF files and of Adobe Reader. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article that you may find helpful should you wish to know more about this:
Thank you so much for responding. I am 76 years old and all of this new stuff is just too much for me.
I will do my best to make sure I receive attachments in Word format and then I won't have to be concerned
with it. I don't have any problem opening a PDF form, so at least I have that much....
Thank you again for the helpful hints.

Also, it is not really all that new; Adobe Reader has existed since 1993.
Anyway, it seems that you have Adobe Reader working now, but don't hesitate to come back here if you need any help - there are lots of helpful people here.
