CS6 download won't install

Jun 8, 2012 11:12 AM

It froze on me at 6%, so I backed out of it. Now I can't find an installer or any record of a download. Do I have to re-download the trial & will it let me. I am worried I will loose the opportunity to try the trial bc I completed the download part.

    Hi,

Which CS6 product are you trying to download and what operating system are you using?

You should be able to re-download and attempt installation again.

Please capture any error message that you receive if the installation freezes again.

    Thanks

    Hi,

If you are downloading a trial version, the download assistant will download and install the application automatically.

Even if you complete the download and the product doesn't install, you will be allowed to reinstall the trial.

When you say that the process freezes at 6%, does this happen as soon as you begin the download or after you initiate the installation? You would be asked to accept the License agreement and select a location for installation before the actual install process begins.

    Thanks

Danimuschick1 from your description it very much sounds like you are still downloading the software and have not initiated the installation process.  Can you please provide a screenshot of the screen you are referring to so that we can confirm.

This is the installation screen.  I would recommend running the Adobe Support Advisor - http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/ to review your installation log.  This should give you an indiciation of what is causing your difficulties.

Did you try the solutions listed in Troubleshoot error messages | Bootstrapper CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-error-messages-b ootstrapper-cs5.html#main_You_are_already_running_another_installer_ this is the document which the Adobe Support Advisor recommended.

The steps in Message #11 which you would want to try are as follows:

You are already running another installer

Only one Adobe Creative Suite 5 or CS5.5 installation can run a time. Otherwise, one of the following error messages appears:

“You are already running another Adobe installer. Please close other installer and select Retry option.”

“Other instances of Adobe Application Manager are running. To continue, installer needs to close those instances. Do you want to continue?”

Click Quit (for the first message) or No (for the second message) to exit the installer.

    Close other Adobe setups:

Right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager.

Select the Processes tab, and select Show Processes From All Users.

Select any PDapp.exe or setup.exe process, and click End Process.

Repeat for all additional instances of PDapp.exe or setup.exe processes.

My apologies the instructions for Mac OS are as follows:

    Mac OS

Press Command + Option + Esc.

In the Force Quit Applications window, select PDapp or Adobe Setup and click Force Quit.

Repeat for all additional instances of the applications.

    Retry the installer.

Also you will find a link to the message thread in your e-mail notification.  It is at the top of the e-mail and it is the link to view the full discussion.  You can also click on http://forums.adobe.com/message/4493673#4493673 to view this message thread in the Adobe Forums.
