Angioplasty animation

Jun 10, 2012 6:40 AM

I am animating an angioplasty operation. I need to show the baloon following a path through an artery. I cannot get it to "curve" around a corner.

I need the stent to be deployed by the balloon inflating, deflating and retracting.

I have been at it for hours. Any suggestions?

use a guide layer above the layer that contains your balloon and a classic tween.  place a copy of your atherosclerotic artery in the guide layer.

in the initial keyframe where the balloon is inserted, position the balloon at the insert point.  at the keyframe where the balloon reaches the plaque to be stented, position the balloon at the dilation point.

finally, nudge the balloon layer slightly upwards so it changes to a guided layer.

(or, right click your layers, click properties and click the desired layer type for your guide and guided layers.)

    http://www.greensock.com/tweenmax/

If you scroll down the page, you will find the "TweenLite/Max Plugin Explorer". Check out the bezier and bezierThrough Examples. This method involves using actionscript to code the animation instead of the timeline for animation. May take a bit longer to setup, but will be easier to change around in the long run.
