Hi!

What camera do they come from?

Did you update camera Raw to 6.7?

In Bridge does it display a thumbnail?

In Photoshop if you click on Help/about plugins/camera raw do you see version 6.7?

Bridge opens exactly as I expect, it shows all the folders and the images within each folder. When I right click on the image and ask it to open in camera .raw it transfers straight to the photoshop main page with the message 'could not complete your request because of a program error', Hope this helps.

Go to Program Files/COMMON Files/Adobe/Plug-ins/CSx/File Formats which should show you ONE Camera Raw.8bi file.

What do you see.

Have done as you suggested. When I get to file formats and camera raw, the properties menu shows it as an 8bi file. Where to now?

If you did not get your copy from Adobe call the Customer Help line and give them your serial number. They can tell you if it is a legal copy or not.

Not saying you have one, but there are a lot of good looking counterfeit copies for sale, especially on eBay.

Can you right click on a jpeg and open it in camera raw?

Are you trying to open the images from the camera? Are they saved on the hard disk of your computer?

They are downloaded from the camera onto the laptop hard drive, I then attempt to open them in camera raw, Each time I attempt this it gives me a message saying request denied due to program error

The software was purchased from a reputable online retailer (Amazon). It arrived boxed anf fully sealed. As suggested I tried opening a jpeg file in camera raw via adobe bridge - no joy. Might the answer be to completely uninstall the software and start again.

Are you sure that there is not another instance of Camera Raw installed?

(32 and 64bits, etc.)

Have decided to go back to Square 1. I'm going to do a complete recovery and see how that goes. At the moment I don't know whether the problem is software or system program related. By starting again from scratch it will give me a better idea as to where the problem lies. Thanks for your help.

Amazon has a good reputation, but that does not mean they also have been duped.

Just a visual inspection will not give you any indication if it is legit or not. If you can not get it to work a phone call to check serial number would tell you for sure.

Just for completeness for future readers, can you please define a "complete system recovery"?

Did you do a full restore from a System Image backup made before the problem? Or did you use System Restore or some other feature?

Did a full system restore. Back to its level when it left the retailer. Now working fine.
