Hi there, have several computers on different networks. All Windows 7 (32bit), some installed from scratch, some with a image based solution, all on current Patch Level.

Can't Autoupdate get to work on any of them...

All have Version 11.2.202.235 Installed (and won't update to 11.3.300.257):

mms.cfg:

AutoUpdateDisable=0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging=1

The Log ist almost identical on all of the computers:

Changing user of the update task to a domain administrator didn't work either....

What can I do?

Thanks!

Hi Werner,

Because FP 11.3 was a quarterly release, the silent automatic update will not occur during the typical 24 hour period.  Instead, you will be notified on system restart within 7 days from the last system check.  If you do not restart your system or click "remind me later" you will receive the 11.3 release in 30 days as long as you have the automatic update feature enabled.

Hi Chris,

thanks for your resond.

So, do I get this right:

Even if in mms.cfg this settings are made:

AutoUpdateDisable=0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

Wih a quarterly release no silent install will take place, but a notification for update will show up?

Thank you very much again!

with that setting, a quarterly update will:

prompt for update within 7 days (after reboot on Windows)

silently update after 30 days if the user has not accepted the prompt before then

If a security/hotfix release is made before 30 days, the system will update to that within 24 hours.

Is there another cfg setting that would make the process prompt-free regardless of update type?  That's what I thought we had already with the "Allow Adobe to install updates" setting in the UI, so this distinction between types of updates is surprising and unwanted. I can tell you that our users don't want to see prompts. I'd prefer that Adobe install even a quarterly update sooner rather than later.

I hear you.  Unfortunately, this ability is not available at this time.  I'd like to recommend opening a new bug report/feature request for this at bugbase.adobe.com.  Once added, please post back with the bug's URL so that other's with the same expectations or needs can vote and comment.

You have my vote, too.

In our environment the users don´t have admin rights so they will never get a message about quaterly updates - in other words they will only be updated after 30 days....

Yes, same here 🙂 Users without admin rights, the popup only will show when a admin logs in.

And 30 days is not an option...

Voting for this now. A truly auto-updating Flash Player (a la Chrome's AU behavior) would be a God send!

So, we have the same issue, sorry for the cross-post, so i'll continue in this thread.

I don't know if i understand Chris' posting correct. If I start the FlashPlayerUpdateService by hand, nothing happens, only this entries are written to the log:

2012-6-14+3-46-1.359 [info] 1614

2012-6-14+3-46-1.359 [info] 1615

2012-6-14+3-46-1.366 [info] 1608

2012-6-14+3-46-1.366 [info] 1604

2012-6-14+3-46-1.999 [info] 1621

2012-6-14+3-46-1.999 [info] 1620

There is also no pop-up showing that a new version is available. If I understand the Auto-Updatefeature correct, the version should be updated automatically to the newest one, we have installed at the moment 11.2.202.235 and waiting for the 11.3.x version
