The listing of files seems to be broken for directories with large amount of files/folders.
Unless the problem can be fixed by a setting in Dreamweaver, this should be considered a major bug.

A swift fix of this issue is appreciated.

Hi Murray,
first off, thanks for the reply.
From all the sites I am currently managing, this one is the only site with such a large number of files/directories.
I should add some more details:
The Windows machine doesn't show this issue, but all our Mac machines do show this issue.
After some more testing this is the way to get to this bug:
Loading the initial file listing shows up fine. Once I expand a sub folder with a larger amount of files, this problem steps into effect (Mac only). The expanded sub folder content shows fine, it just seems to effect the parents content.
Hello Murray,
I started receiving email notifications about a month ago from you for no apparent reason. I have tried to stop them many times in "Actions" . They never stop. I am not sure it is one thread or several threads I am getting notifications from.
Can you help me out and stop all notifications from you being sent to james@jpalik.com.
Thanks
Jim Palik

Sorry - I cannot. You would have to unsubscribe to the threads in question, and set up your preferences not to receive email notices.
So, how many files/folders are we talking about here? This would be important information for any attempt to reproduce the problem. If the problem cannot be reproduced, then it's very difficult to fix (sort of like trying to tune to a radio station that is not broadcasting - but I guess that analogy is quite dated now...).
I am experiencing this on other sites as well.
Really a bummer, this pretty much renders Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac somewhat useless over here.
I have to switch to the Windows version of Dreamweaver CS6 just to work on this particular website.
Thank you for checking into this.
Hoping for an update that will remedy this issue.
I have CS6 running on an iMac in 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard?). When I connect to my site that has 5,836 files in 547 folders, or to my site that has 2,913 files in 278 folders, or to my site that has 7,585 files in 956 folders, I do not see anything like what you are describing. Sorry.
For example, this shot is from that latter site -
Hi Murray,
I am running on a fresh install of MacOS X 10.7.4 (Lion) ...
Did you scroll down past file/folder number 1724 ? Judging by your screnshot it is the very top of your file listing.
Everybody here in the office has this problem on Lion.
Before the new iMacs we worked on SL 10.6.8 on CS5 all was working fine ...
Again, thanks for the swift response.

Yes. There's no sign of your symptoms.
Everybody here in the office has this problem on Lion.
Certainly sounds like a Lion problem. I'm surprised nobody else has seen this issue, if it is. Meanwhile, I'm checking with others offline to see if they can confirm....
We were aware of issues with Lion 10.7.3 - and, once the updated 10.7.4 came out, we had verified the issue as resolved. You can also refer to our blog post on this item: http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/05/files-panel-and-icons-lion- 10-7-3.html. But, i am not sure why you would be seeing this same(?) issue now on 10.7.4 itself...
Hi RaghavanG,
thanks for the response ...
I don't know what to say other than attaching another screenshot for your reference showing the version of DW CS6, the version of Mac OS and the Files panel. Look for yourself.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/118949/screenshots/dw_2012-06-12.png
thanks ...
The problem you are seeing with the Files panel is different from what we had noticed earlier. We will investigate this further. By the way, did you see this issue only after you installed CS-6? Is it possible for you to share (privately) information to help us reproduce the problem locally?
Thanks for your patience!
Hi PixelGrinch,
I appreciate your interest in sharing more details!
1. What type of Remote server have you configured?
2. Could you please share the settings that you have applied for the site? You can export the site and share it with me through an email - jlakshmi_at_adobe_dot_com
3. Do you actually have some files to be listed at those blank places? or DW is simply showing up some empty space beyond the last file where in no files are to be listed over there.(Just to be sure)
4. Do you see the same issue with other Sites configured in DW as well? May be for different FTP server?
5. Did you try recreating the site cache like Murray had suggested? (Use menu Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache)
6. Did reconnecting to the site or closing / reopening Files Panel helped?
7. Is it only with Remote View and not in Local View? If all the remote files are sync’d do we see the issue in the Local Files View as well?
If yes, can we know the expected file name at the position which didn’t render? If it is working on Windows a snapshot of the files panel showing all the file names that didn’t render would be really helpful. You can Expand Files Panel so that it displays both Remote and Local view side by side > navigate to the location in Remote View where the folder and file names are missing > At the same time navigate to those similar folder in Local View as well. So that we know what files needs to be listed at Remote View
Could you please join a Connect session so that we can visually see the issue at your machine, which helps us to nail down the problem faster?

Janaki L
Hi Janaki,
just FYI, my work email is {removed by moderator}. To keep things away from
confusion I will be using the email address attached to this email for
future communication, which is my personal email address,
{ removed by moderator }.
Server type: ColdFusion 8 in a Managed Windows Environment with RackSpace
(Hosting company).
Attached to this email:
1) A Screenshot that shows that the files seem to be there, they are just
not visible, as if the text color changed from black to white, which also
happens to be the background color. I can even expand folders and open
files.
2) An altered site export file (I replaced the IP and server info with
dummy text). Other than that all infos you need should be in it.
let me know if you need anything else.
If you need beta testers, let me know, I have a track record of stumbling
across bugs
...
thanks and have a great day,
Bert Austin
Hi Lightopia1,
sorry to hear you are experiencing the same issue ...
After trying to help out, Janaki Lakshmikanthan passed me over to Vickramaditya Dhawal and he asked me some questions.
I took the time to create and send a video showing every detail of the issue (by answering all their questions). I haven't heard anything for 5 days ... At this point I don't expect anything to come out of this.
I am currently using another third party Coding IDE since I am unable to use Dreamweaver CS6 behaving as described above ...
For what it's worth should anybody in charge come accross this post, the following video could proof useful:
Steps shown in this video:
- no problems in the file listing
- expanding a folder containing many files
- showing the listing issue
- showing first invisible entries
- expanding additional folders to show that file name is not the issue
- showing file names of invisible files after expansion
- highlighting all files before it turns invisible, showing the number 1724 files
Have a great day...
I'm sure its a CS6/Mac issue. My PC has no problems on this same exact site/project. Fortunately, I was able to work around it by changing the sorting on the files. Since it always showed me the same number of files I can trick dreamweaver to show me all the files. When I switch between sorting by file name a-z and sorting z-a I am able to see all my files between the two sorting methods. Usually I just stick to sorting by date recent-oldest, so the files I have changed recently are always on top, that is usually all I need. So for now it is a minor annoyance for me.
Hi Murray,
Appreciate your question. Let me explain:
Janaki Lakshmikanthan pushed the issue over to Vickramaditya Dhawal and Vickramaditya just asked some questions and never responded.
I mean the Adobe Suite costs thousands of dollars. We probably spent well over 15K during the last 4-5 years for Adobe products. Having signed up for the Adobe Cloud we are now paying $49 * 5 each month. This number will go up after the promotion period is over.
This is obviously a bug and our very first support request since we are using Adobe products.
All I was able to do, I did. I exported the site file upon request, folowed up with detailed explanations, even created a video, all this on my own time, not company time. It just seems I wasted my time and effort and I haven't received a response or status update since June 13th.
Maybe this is common practice, I guess I need to understand how much support can be expected. I understand people get busy but at the very least let us know.
Since I am not able to reproduce your symptoms, I would guess that the engineers are also having a problem doing that. Did you do a Connect session with anyone to show them what you are seeing and to give them access to your computer?
I know you are anxious, but I think you will just have to be patient. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can contact anyone and suggest that they take a look at this....
Lightopia1 seems to have the exact same issue ... So there are two available for help.
Unfortunately the company policies do not permit remote access to our servers by thrid parties.
Maybe Lightopia1 is able to help out in this regard.
We will wait patiently, and keep using Coda, in the meantime.
Thank you and have a great day ...
Hi,
This issue has been resolved (internally) in Dreamweaver. We are actively working on the release plan to have this fix available to you all at the earliest.
Bert, thanks for posting this issue in the forum with enough details. It did help us to nail down the problem quickly.

Janaki L
Hello All,
Listing files in files panel issue in Mac has been resolved and it is available through DW udpate build 12.0.3. Please update to the latest build.
In Dreamweaver use menu 'Help' > Updates to get the latest build
The above update is available for both Windows and Mac with many more fixes as well.
Off topic: Creative Cloud users too have an update 12.1.1 (for both win and mac) to continue using Phone Gap from DW.
Regards,
Janaki
thanks for the update. I realize this is not your fault, because you have no say in regards of the release schedule. But you fixed the issue internally over 6 month ago and Adobe decided to release it just now.
I can only shake my head in disbelieve.
I would consider this list display issue a high priority issue. Not being able to see files that are there is more than inconvenient.
Understand where I am coming from. When I pay this kind of cash for a software product and receive this kind of release schedule/service for serious issues that are fixed internally 6 month ago and not rolled out within a week or two, then disbelieve sets in.
I have never experience this kind of service for a product of this price range. In the meantime I paid 6 month worth of cloud service charges in which I was not able to use Dreamweaver because of this issue. Add it up and you know what I mean.
I have ditched Dreamweaver for good this is just a waste of my time and money. And it is still a waste of money since I have no choice in choosing my apps I want to use from the cloud. I get charged for the whole thing and all I use at this point is just Photoshop and Illustrator. I wished Adobe would start integrate a per Application fee rather than a flat fee for all programms nobody ever uses unless it is for a business that covers job descriptions for all apps available in the cloud.
Just my 2 cents and a real unhappy Adobe customer.
Merry Christmas.
