Hi I have already asked this question with the screen-name of tinalouise62 but I cannot log in using that account so I have had to create another. Nancy replied to my question but I do not think I was clear about my issue so I am trying again,
I created a web site in dreamweaver to replace an old one that was running. My brother who has the hosting package said that I needed to create a folder in my root folder 'public_html/new' so that when the files went live he could replace the old site with these in the 'public_html' file - the live site file.
This all went well and the new site is now up. The problem is that I now cannot access the files on the remote server. When I go to the local view I can access the files and make changes and add things. When I go to remote to 'Put' files I only have an empty 'public_html/new' folder because the files have been moved out of it to the live site. I cannot change the name of the folder and I cannot upload files from the remote server because I am stuck with this public_html/ new folder that the public_html does not recognize?
What I need to do is change the file in the remote files to public_html so that dreamweaver can comunicate with it? What can I do? I have managed to get files and put them in the remote files. It seems that the because the live site is now public_html it cannot comunicate with public_html/new. I have tried renaming it but dreamweaver will not let me?
I am slowly going mad. There must be an easy solution to this I have tried everything.
Many thanks in advance
Tina
I actually thought that Nancy gave you the correct answer in the previous thread, but let's try again.
