When I click on the type tool, I don't see the cursor like I should. Instead, I see a tiny flash, but when I type, nothing. What's wrong. Does anyone know?
Did you click once then type, or are you able to click and drag to draw a text container.
Quit and restart Illustrator.
Make sure you have a printer chosen, this does affect Illustrator.
Try resetting your .ai preferences. (Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. Your current settings are deleted.)
Thank you for your reply. I did all the things you suggested earlier. I even reinstall Illustrator (but I kept the preferences). I can't even import text into Illustrator (CS5). I'll try reinstalling again and this time I won't keep the preferences. Hope this works! I had the CS6 trial on this computer which I removed. Wonder if this caused the problem?
New User? I'm the only one who uses that computer. Windows 7. I just discovered all my versions of Illustrator (C3-5) have the same problem with the text tool. So it must be some system issue. I'm thinkiing I might have to uninstall all the CS suites (updates) and buy the full CS6 suite if I can't solve this problem within a reasonable amount of time. I have too much work to do right now. Appreicate your help. Cheers!
You can create a new user account which when you log into it will be a fresh account and that can tell you whthether it is a preference or font corruption problme.
You should try to create a new user and log in if it still persist you might have a more serious problem. You maight have another application on your computer like a spell checker that is causing the conflict and it will have to go.
it sounds lie a conflict to me.
