Communicating New Content

Jun 12, 2012 10:39 AM

I'm investigating whether there is an easy way to communicate with my website visitors (especially sales personnel and distributors, but really it could be anyone) that the site has had new content uploaded to it (a new press release, a new version of a data sheet, etc.).  Ideally, this would be something simple, not time consuming for me, and not something I need to remember to do every time I upload something (i.e. not an email).  Someone suggested an RSS feed and I'm wondering if there is something that would work better.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Sandra

For sales and distributors, I've always relied on their VPN connections to Sharepoint environments.  Version control and organization is easy for them to understand without having to read marketing content which a customer-facing website is.  In lack of that I would almost give them a URL to a feed.  For distributors this is something easy they could put on their websites, but for sales they would either need a news reader, or Safari and IE have ok readers built into the browser.

I know you said not an email but there are some providers out there, I think Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor come to mind, that allow you to create emails from RSS feeds ( http://mailchimp.com/features/rss-to-email/ - http://www.campaignmonitor.com/rss-to-email/ ).  That would allow some automation to be introduced to the email flow giving you a reason to reconsider email.
