Illustrator CS6 creative cloud crashes when saving

Tags: #illustrator #creative_cloud #crash_on_save #login_issue

I downloaded Illustrator as part of my creative cloud subscription.

Today when I opened a file I worked on for hours last night, an error message with a lot of unreadable characters showed up.  I relaunched it and redid the work.  Then I went to save, and it crashed with the same error message.

Then it asked me to sign in, saying I was using a trial version, even though I was signed in and had been using it.  So I sign in again, make the changes again, save, and it crashes again.  When I open the file, the layers have been altered so that everything is now on one layer.

This is crazy and is costing me a lot of valuable work.

Please help.

I believe you have been active on the other post and somewhat the problem is solved for the OP , your issue is different then the OP on the other thread.

Moving this thread to Illustrator Forums

We need system info. Garbage characters on warning dialogs point to language issues and that could well explain your saving crashes as well - the program does not find directories because it thinks they do not exist based on wrong names.

    @ mattinsf2012

Could you please provide some more info on it? Like providing a snapshot of the error message. What is your exact workflow? What kind of content you have created in your Ai document? Have you submitted the crash log to Adobe? Your system info and products installed on your system. All these info would help others in the community to provide some help to you. Also, Adobe Engineers do keep looking at the user forums so do not forget to provide as much information as possible and if possible do log a bug @ https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

Logging a bug surely speeds up the whole process. But, do remember to add as much information as possible. Above information which you have provided is very generic and will not help much.

    Cheers!!!

The obvious question is why haven't you contacted technical support and/or Custonmer Support?

If this is costing you money then I would think you would want solve any poblems you are having in this regards with those two parties first.

Same problem on windows 7 here, Illustrator was working prefectly then suddenly it crashed. After that crash I've been unable to save/open/create any document. I've just missed an important deadline because of that and I'm really pissed off. Found no answer to this from Adobe neither on forums. I've tryed the delete settings folder route but no luck, new user account neither...

Already sent a bug request to Adobe, but I really need to get back to work tomorrow... hope they will have an answer tomorrow either by mail or phone !

Maybe someone has a clue ?

Just adding my voice to this thread - I've started experiencing the same issue.

I'm running Win 8 Release Preview on a 64bit system, Creative Cloud subscription. Usually Illustrator will lock up, whiteout, then crash without warning or error. I have been unable to replicate the crashes though. Files aren't massive (quite the opposite actually) and very few effects, linework, gradients etc. involved, and no changes to the fonts I use regularly.

It has also happened numerous times when I've gone to close Illustrator, answer Yes to save the file - bam, crash. The file is usually saved before the crash, so I'm not losing any work (now that I am anticipating crashes) and I've developed a nervous Ctrl+S twitch so as not to lose any work, but to be perfectly honest, it's pretty damn annoying  and shouldn't be happening.

Waiting patiently for an update, but I'm not holding my breath.

Update: Just managed to crash it by copying a rectangle with a gradient fill from one file into another and lost two hours work.
