Need assistance. Have Reader 8.3.1 and want to uninstall and then install Reader X. When I use the Remove/Install Programs icon it advises the following;

This patch could not be opened. Verify that patch package exists and you can access it, or contact application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch paskage.

Just want to remove this program and install new version.

Hello,

You can try using an uninstaller to remove Adobe Reader 8 (Microsoft Windows CleanUp Utility)

Once Adobe Reader 8 is removed you can Download Adobe Reader X from here : ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013 _en_US.exe

You may try running the Acrobat and Reader Cleanup Tool

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Download Reader's full installer from

http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.
