Acrobat X Pro automatically shuts down by itself within 10-15sec or upon attempting to open a file. Newly installed via Creative Suite 6. Using Mac OS X V10.6.8.

Unable to uninstall Acrobat X Pro: Invalid Application

Any solutions?

I'm having the same exact problem, fresh install of Windows 7 on a brand new machine, fresh copy of Acrobat X from Creative Cloud's Application Manager.

Same here! Windows 7 x64. CS6. Acrobat X Pro shuts down very frequently (migth be several times a day according to usage), which drives me crazy. I used to work with other software like bluebeam which was really rock stable as compared to Acrobat X Pro. Actually I thought it was an "upgrade" as far as professionality is concerned.Yet it feels like an extreme downgrade as far as stability is concerned. No solution in sight?

In a separate thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4570996#4570996) an Adobe employee suggested following these instructions from this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-x-closes-launch-creative.htm l

Step 1: Install the latest version of Adobe Application Manager from the following links:

    Windows
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773

    Mac OS
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774

Step 2: Relicense other CS6 software.

    1. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
    2. Launch a regular CS6 product other than Acrobat or Flash Builder (for example: Photoshop, After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, Flash Professional, Illustrator, or Dreamweaver).
    3. Choose Help > Deactivate.
    4. Deactivate the application, and then quit the application.
    5. Launch the product you deactivated in step 4.
    6. Click License This Software on the user interface.
    7. Sign in with the Adobe ID associated with your subscription.
    8. Launch Acrobat X to confirm it opens successfully.

It worked for me. Hope that helps

Thank you for your hint! I read this before, but since I had not installed CS5 (rather CS6 was my first CS installation at all), I thought, this would not apply for me. Why should there be a licensing problem with a legally acquired and installed product? Why can't Adobe create an automated fix since they obviously threw a faulty product on the market?

Well, maybe I'll give a try. I am not sure though tha it helps. Since I already lost to much time with this annoying problem my motivation is low to fix the problems Adobe aught to fix.

But I do appreciate your supportive reply. Thanks again!

Honestly I was equally skeptical. I'd uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat numerous times so I wasn't holding my breath that that would work, but it did the trick. If you do attempt this fix, I would recommend a reboot inbetween parts 4 and 5 under Step 2.

Well ... it worked, when I followed your instructions. But: for two days only . Obviously there is a problem with the search function within Acrobat X. Because this time would stop to work "...does not work any more" (& shutdown), when I tried to open a document from the search list. Acrobat X showed this annoying behaviour very often in the past. This is a little bit different from the symptom where Acrobat X would disappear completely with no chance to get it running again. Only a new installation would help in such a case.

So we have to wait till Adobe acknowledges this problem and tries to find a fix.

I would like to tell u my story as well, i had the same problem, the program shut down on its own, so I reinstalled acrobate x pro. After that it would not recognise the serial number anymore, so i got in touch with a helpful adobe-guy which solved the problem after 5 hours on the chat (step 2 above!).

After some time now it happened again yesterday (also distiller) that the program just shut down and would not reopen at all.

I did the above relicensing again -without step1 - and it does work!! I think they should know how to approach this problem with all these descriptions, please do an update soon to get rid of this

    Same Prob to me!

    System: Mac OS X 10.7.5

    CS Web Premium 5.5

    everything legal and updated

Acrobat X Pro always crashes app 10 secs after starting the program. The given hint (updating the manager, deactivation of PS and Re-licensing) did not solve the problem at all.

Re-Installation only works for other products of the suite, Re-Installation of Acrobat X does not work, but a dialogue window is popping up. In this no indication is given for Re-Installation-trouble, the given URL leads to nowhere.

After literally hours of browsing, downloading, re-installing and so forth i am really not left in satisfaction, if that is the word.

    Any further hints, buddies?

    Niko_
