Since upgrading from CS4 to CS6 (via Creative Cloud) for Mac, I've noticed an annoying glitch with flashing cursors / insertion points. When I'm using the software heavily (possibly linked with swapping in and out to my browser to refresh and test changes) and then switching between multiple tabs in DW, I end up with the insertion points from various tabs all showing in the one window.
Obviously, this means that it's hard to know which one is the 'real' one for that tab. The only way to fix it is to toggle through all the tabs as this then cancels the insertion points once you've activated and de-activated the tab.
Until yesterday I was running Snow Leopard, but I'm now on Lion, in the hopes it was related to the OS, but sadly it's still occuring.
Has anyone else seen this issue? I've looked online repeatedly and couldn't see any mention of it so I'm not holding out much hope... It's a really annoying glitch and kills productivity as I often have a heap of tabs open and the time taken to clear the insertion points breaks your train of thought
Any tips would be greatly appreciated, but even just someone else reporting that they've encountered this would be a relief!
Yeah, it only happens in Dreamweaver - and it was fine in CS4.
I'm running a Mid-2009 17" Macbook Pro, so about 2 years old. I might try switching to the alternative GPU and see if that makes any difference.
The insertion points only show within dreamweaver though - it's not as if they're still showing when I switch to other Apps - just between tabs in DW.
Nope - no joy at all. I'm still getting the problem and nothing short of closing / switching to the offending tabs seems to clear it. Really frustrating bug... I'm hoping it'll be reported more as others switch to CS6...
In the meantime, when I get a few spare minutes, I'm going to uninstall and re-download / install CS6 from the cloud and see if that's any better. When I originally installed it was alongside CS4 which I subsequently removed. I'm wondering if that removal threw a wheel off somewhere...
I have this same issue. I am running a fresh installation of Dreamweaver CS6 on a (brand new) mid-2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro 2.6 i7 with 16 GB of ram, an onboard 512 MB Intel 4000 graphics card and a 1 GB NVIDIA GT 650M. Any help would be much appreciated!
Do have all the latest updates?
Specifically 12.03 which made improvements for HiDpi displays.
That actually helped wonderfully as far as my eyes hurting from the all those evil pixels (nearly utilizing the full Retina display), however the cursor still does the funny thing but seems to only do so in one instance. Whenever I open multiple files in code view the cursor from the most recently opened tab appends itself to each tab until I highlight that last tab and move the cursor elsewhere in the document. Thank you, it's much a much better dreamweaver experience overall after installing that update.
