[Violation] The F key in the Annot dictionary is missing or has an invalid value.

I tried to search the forum and google for an answer with no luck. So I just created a new discussion.

Our client ask us to re-create our old files to be compliant to PDF/A-1b. I tried to use the default settings of Acrobat distiller 9 which is "PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB)". However, upon distilling our old postscript files, we encountered this error:

"[Violation] The F key in the Annot dictionary is missing or has an invalid value."

This error only shows up if postscript have link annotations. For those without links, output pdf has been generated.

My question is, are links not allowed in PDF/A-1b? If this is allowed, is there any solution or pdfmark that we can add to solve this error? Hope someone can help me on this. Thanks!

Link annotations are allowed in PDF/A. Can you look at the postscript source to see what the value of the annotation's F key is, if anything?

I'm afraid I can't help much. The F key is optional, and the value defaults to 0. Did you check them all?

That looks like it's setting the initial view parameters (document open action), not creating a link annotation. You might try getting rid of that F key and see what happens. I don't think it belongs there.

The Document Open Options (DOCVIEW) doesn't use the F key. Use something like this:

    [/PageMode /UseOutlines /Page 1 /View [/FitH 1297] /DOCVIEW pdfmark

In Bookmarks (OUT) you can use the F key. The value must be 0, 1, 2, or 3.
