Indexing in Magazine

Hi all

 

I am running a local magazine with advertisers, can anyone tell me if there is a way to add the advertiser and page number in the index automaticly when I place the advert on a page. As at the moment i am doing this manually.

    I wrote an article for InDesign Magazine (Issue # 30, June/July 2009) a couple of years ago describing how to do this with text tags and a TOC (most ads are some sort of image file, often a PDF, and there's no way to pick up anything from an image to use in an index or TOC). There's a fair amount of work involved in the initial setup, but onec you do that it's pretty simple to generate and update an "index to advertisers."
