After a few minutes of usage, Dreamweaver CS6 will refuse to do something (out of memory error) and need to be restarted. I talked with Adobe on the phone and they had me delete the preferences file - that solved some OTHER issues, however I'm still getting the out of memory error every so often. I can upload files about 3-15 times, and then I'll start getting the error. I'm not even close to using my computer's full system resources, so it's something in dreamweaver. See attached image for one instance
Hi Murray, here are the specs: Windows 7 64bit, 8GB DDR3-1333 ram, Intel i7 Q720, Intel® HM55 Express Chipset, ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD5730 with 1GB DDR3 VRAM, partition with least amount of space has 20GB free
Sorry, no. Your specs seem to be more than adequate when compared to the requirements specified here -
I suggest you contact Adobe Customer Support for more help with this.
With the task manager open during one of these out of memory errors, Dreamweaver will go from 122MB of ram usage to 1.6GB, but still isn't close to using the full resources. If I had less ram it would probably crash. Seems like it is terribly inefficient or something.
I have the exact same issue with Dreamweaver CS6 running out of memory Ram 8Gb, Windows 7, 1TB harddrive, Core i5 2.5Ghz, 64bit . I need to reopen dreamweaver quite open to fix it.
Any ideas Adobe?
I called Adobe again about this specific issue and they had me apply this hotfix:
Click on the "Fix It" guy at the bottom of the page to automatically apply it, and a restart will be required.
It seems to be working so far. Easy fix for something that has been so frustrating.
The technician told me that Microsoft is working on this error right now, and to apply this fix again if the error returns.
After a while I've found that the microsoft fix does indeed to need to applied every so often. So much so that I'm not sure which method is more time consuming, in other words; it's just as bad as having to restart Dreamweaver. Final answer to this problem: buy a mac
I'm runngin Windows 8 and after a number of uploads or after a number of searches I get the "OUT OF MEMORY" errors. The only correction is to quit the program and reload it.
If I"m working with multiple files and such I end up losing all my UNDO chains.. which sucks cuz sometime I change my mind and need to go back.
CS6 works under Windows 8 but clearly not very well with these constant problems.
Is there a real fix? I dont think the suggested hotfix applies to Windows 8.
Yea, no real fix exists Fever-905. After this issue arose when I installed CS6, I have since switched to the combination of filezilla and sublime text and haven't looked back. This has been a flawless and fast setup for me, and recommend it to anyone who doesn't need the wysiwyg editor anymore. zen coding rocks.
Hey @eriteric ... That's not really an option for me. I like the css hinting and some of the other aspects of CS6. I didn't have the problem in Windows 7.. I am dual booting Win 7 and Win 8 and maybe its time to go back to Windows 7.
The reality of things is that there should have been a patch by now. There's other PHP editors out there, but none as good as DW in my opinion.
I've had this issue for a long time, even with different versions. I have searched off and on to find the solution, but most of the answers are either crazy made up shots in the dark, or tell you to buy more memory.
Finally found the answer, and hope this helps someone with the same issue and lack of answers. It's pretty simple: Dreamweaver chokes on huge files, and those files are usually error_log. One of mine was a whopper (almost 4 gigs), and after I deleted it, I no longer have to cuss and reboot nearly every time I search with Dreamweaver.
