You may need to reinstall your Production Premium to use Dynamic Link if its not working. Or if you purchased AE and Pr as standalone in versions prior to CS6 then you will have no access to dynamic link.

IIRC, prior to CS6, the only way to get dynamic linking to work was to buy one of the Adobe Suites. If you bought PPro and AE separately, dynamic linking would not work.

This changed in CS6. Suite or not, dynamic linking works in CS6 (if you have two or more Adobe products so you have something with which to connect via dyanmic link of course).

If this behaviour is consistent from project to project, reinstall the Suite using Adobe CS Cleaner Tool.
