Keep LR4 Catalog and Previews on SSD Drive?

I have a 250 GB SSD drive that has my Win 7 operating system and a few critcal programs loaded on it (Lightroom, Photoshop etc...).  The rest of my programs and data are stored on a 2 GB 7200 rpm drive.

Question: Should I store the LR4 catalog on the C: Drive (SSD), but store all of the previews, back-ups and other folders on the D: Drive?

  1. It seems to me that the catalog itself would benefit from the SSD drive speed.  Do the previews?
  2. Can I separate these folders on different drives or will lightroom get confused?
  3. I'd keep them all on the SSD, but I want 1:1 previews stored indefinately and it's way too large for the SSD drive

What is the best way to install the program and place all of the folders in a multi drive system?
