Downloading problem

Jun 16, 2012 10:00 AM

I downloaded the LR4 upgrade. LR4 Image shows up on my desktop, dmg icon and READMe shows up, when I double click on dmg, I get message saying unable to open. I am a bit of an idiot. Any suggestions on how to proceed. Using Mac Pro and upgrading from LR3.

I'm not a Mac user, but have you checked that your machine meets the minimum spec for Lr 4?

    Minimum specs for Mac are:

    • Multicore Intel® processor with 64-bit support (that's Core 2 Duo and later)
    • Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or 10.7 (Lion) For either OS
    • 2GB of RAM
    • 1GB of available hard-disk space
    • 1024x768 display

If your machine's above that minimum spec, it would help to have the whole error message.

    2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

    14 GB RAM

    Mac OS X 10.6.8

    100GB available hard-disk space

    1920x1200 display

    Lightroom_4_LS11_mac_4_1.dmg 411.7 mb (411,702,729 bytes)

On Adobe's download page, it says to expect a filesize of 392.7 mb.

The file isn't complete or is corrupt. Try downloading again.

I've downloaded the file 8 times in the past 3 days, and I got the same result, "invalid checksum" for all of them.  The past few times I've downloaded it, it's 411.7 mb.  If it was not complete, why is the file size consistent?  Adobe lists the file size to be 392.7 mb on their download page, and this is clearly wrong.  Someone at Adobe is sleeping at the wheel.

Note for you after you upgrade to the correct OS version.. Use Firefox instead of Safari to download the file, it worked for me.
