When I Send a file from Premiere CS6 to SpeedGrade it takes an execissve amount of time, i.e. about 6 minutes for a 30 second clip. I have an Intel i7 2700 CPU running at 3.4Ghz with 16gb RAM and a nvidia Cuda card (Mercury Playback Engine).
Also when I start a new grade, all my old files are still on the timeline, how do I start a new project.
Why does SpeedGrade not take advatage of the Adobe Dtnamic Link, just so we can go back and forth to the Master timeline in Premiere.
On the surface this software new does seem very good, but the lack of decent information makes this a "trial by click" application.
Have watched most of the videos on AdobeTV and other sites, but none address the speed of a workflow
Hey Oliver,
There is not a Dynamic Link connection between SpeedGrade and Premiere Pro in the CS6 version.
For now, use the Send To SpeedGrade command in Premiere Pro to create a ircp and DPX sequence used by SG
.
OR you can use the traditional way of exporting a EDL.
This depends on your workflow. If shooting DSRL I would recommend using Send To Speedgrade. If you are working on RAW files, export a EDL and relink the RAW files in SG. Be aware that the EDL (CMX 3600 Standard) is not equal to a Pr project file. Only one audio and video timeline is supported (Master Timeline) and also only common clip dissolves.
to start a new project > Delete the timeline by clicking on the 'x' on the right side of the Timeline > If you want to add aditional timeline click 'new mono timeline' (In the Desktop Modus shortcut <D>).
Let me know if that helps

Thank you, I will give this another try.
The other thing that I didn't mention, is that Sony EX3 files are not seen as thumbnails. I liked this feature in Premiere CS6, it's just a pity it is not available in SG. I have read that this new Adobe application is still being tweaked by the developers, so I will show some patience.
First I felt kinda stupid I couldn't figure out how to start a new project, then it feels very wrong deleting a timeline, modifying an existing project and hitting "save"... to save under a different name (where you wouldn't know if this dialog was gonna pop up).
The "save" button shows the hover info "save speedgrade project", the "save IRCP" button in the tools menu shows the hover info "save current timeline setup" - while the both bring up the very same "save Timeline as..." dialog. Very confusing.
Usability definately has plenty of room left for improvement in Speedgrade.
Also, much as I am excited about working with it, I must say it crashes quite a bit. There a lot of good things to say about it. For now I'm in the line with vsoliver, it'll take some patience from our side for the devs to get it ready for pime time.
