I am sending a 3 minute long sequence from Premiere to speedgrade. Footage is from Canon T3i. It goes on fine till the conversion is done in premiere but once Speedgrade starts to open it hangs for a few seconds and then crashes.
If i try to open the same project from within the speedgrade, it crashes again. What am i doing wrong?
Come on Adobe guys, this is basic stuff.Somebody has to answer this.
Not even a single clip is moving from Premiere to speedgrade. No EDL is working in Speedgrade. It is crashing constantly.
What good is the program if it can't even open a project. I understand that it is at an initial stage of development but it can't be this buggy to be included in the CS suite?
I am working on a I-7 processor with16 GB ram.
GPU is Nvidia 560Ti.
When i try to send the sequence from Premiere to Speedgrade, after all the exporting is done SG opens and then crashes.
SG opens fine on its own but If i export an edl from Premiere and then try to import it in SG, it gives either error messages or becomes unresponsive & then crashes.
These sequnces don't even have any effects, just simple clips on a timline. Footage is from a canon dslr.
Hi Sohrab,
would it be alright to contact you directly? Please send me a private message if that's ok with you.
Would love to see what can be done about the situation, I am pretty puzzled as your setup shouldn't give you this kind of grief.
Best,
Pat

I have the same issue. I can't send footage to SpeedGrade or use it standalone without causing a crash.
It seems to keep working after the crash, but hey how safe is that?
The message says it crashes my Dynamic Link engine, even though it's said Speed Grade doesn't use Dynaimic Link.
I must say:
As long as I have used my 48Gb 12 core Quadro 4000 PC, the Dynamic Link architecture caused severe crashes, in all previous Adobe versions too.
I therefore always try to avoid the Dynamic Link engine from being used. It seems Speed Grade can't be used without waking up the Dynamic Link.
>>> Is there a way to disable the Dynamic Link feature completely? I can't use it anyway, so I won't lose much. After all these years I'd like to have a stable suite.
My Speedgrade 6.0.4 on Mountaion Lion 10.8.1 is crashing constantly as well. It seems to be primarily when on "Selected" timeline mode and playhead is running (meaning that it's "playing" the footage forward - pretty basic).
System:
Mountain Lion 10.8.1
2xQuad core 2.8ghz Xeon processors (Late 2008).
18GB DDR2 Ram
256 SSD drive
ATI Radeon 5770 1GB vRam
Any staff out there able to offer suggestions?
I know this thread is very old, but I have similar problems and there is no conclusion to this.
So my PC is always crashing after a few minutes while working.
Either its straight to desktop or Runtime C++ error.
I also couldnt reopen another project where I put a second mask / layer into my timeline.
When I opened the project, it was straight to desktop again.
So I'm now constantly saving manually and avoid additional masks / layers.
My specs
Core i7
16 GB RAM
nvidia 670 GTX
System HD 128GB SSD
Data HD RAID 0
Project Res 2048x1152
